Individual Counseling

You are normal.  Depression, anger, anxiety, grief, and fear are no respecter of persons.    When a person struggles with managing emotions or behaviors for a long enough period of time, it begins to affect every area of life: personal happiness, marriage satisfaction, career effectiveness, parenting, and more.

Sometimes the struggle is a sudden onset of grief: the loss of a loved one, the pain of a divorce, adjusting to a new career, or life-altering medical diagnosis.  Other times,  our challenges arise from family of origin experiences, life habits, and even just old-fashioned poor choices.  Sometimes, the explanation is medical in nature, such as a chemical imbalance; and sometimes, it’s all just a frustrating mystery.

Regardless of how or why you found yourself considering counseling, whatever your challenge may be, just know that supportive, encouraging, nonjudgmental help is available.  The journey towards insights, strategies, and solutions has already started by taking the time to research your options.  Are you ready to get your life back?

Assessment & Testing Services

Based on each client’s goals and needs, standard assessment tools are sometimes recommended to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning. Should additional assessments be indicated, we will discuss the types of assessments being recommended and their potential value to the treatment process.   Participation in the assessment is at the client’s discretion.  If there are fees associated with the additional testing, these will be discussed prior to the client agreeing to complete the testing.

Referrals

As a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas, our clinicians have been educated and trained to address a wide variety of mental health and relational needs for clients.  However, just like in the medical field, some clients may need the services of a professional who has specialized training and experience (example: EMDR for trauma).  Should a determination be made during the initial assessment or at any point during the therapeutic process that a client would receive greater benefit from a specialist in a particular type of treatment, we will discuss this with the client.  Our professional, legal, and ethical guidelines, as well as our desire to assist clients in successfully their therapeutic goals, guide us in making referral decisions.
